A New Japanese Reptile Design from Silent Ninja Studio J
Silent Ninja Studio J is expanding into a new direction inspired by one of our favorite themes: reptiles.
The first release in our Japanese Reptile Collection is the Veiled Chameleon Sumi-e T-Shirt — an original design combining the distinctive beauty of the veiled chameleon with traditional Japanese ink-inspired aesthetics.
VEILED CHAMELEON MEETS JAPANESE SUMI-E
The veiled chameleon is one of the most recognizable reptiles in the world, known for its tall casque, observant eyes, textured scales, gripping feet, and beautifully curled tail.
For this design, we wanted to capture that unique silhouette while giving it the quiet strength and elegance of traditional Japanese art.
The artwork features a full-body veiled chameleon perched naturally on a twisting Japanese black pine branch.
Around the chameleon are expressive black ink textures, bamboo, drifting mist, subtle Japanese cloud forms, and delicate ink splashes.
A restrained red sun appears behind the chameleon, adding a traditional Japanese-inspired accent without overwhelming the monochrome composition.
The result is a design that feels both organic and dramatic while remaining clean enough for everyday streetwear.

The artwork is printed on a Comfort Colors® 1717 garment-dyed T-shirt.
The shirt features a soft-washed feel, heavyweight cotton construction, and a relaxed unisex fit that works especially well with detailed Japanese-inspired artwork.
The slightly vintage character of the garment-dyed fabric also complements the sumi-e design.

Each color creates a slightly different atmosphere while keeping the black ink artwork and muted red sun clearly visible.
THE BEGINNING OF THE JAPANESE REPTILE COLLECTION
This Veiled Chameleon T-Shirt is the first apparel release in our growing Japanese Reptile Collection.
The collection is intended to explore reptiles such as chameleons, bearded dragons, geckos, iguanas, and other exotic animals through Japanese-inspired art, tattoo aesthetics, sumi-e, and modern streetwear.
Reptiles have already appeared in several Silent Ninja Studio projects, including tattoo design books and coloring books.
Now we are bringing that inspiration into apparel as well.
